Yo! Welcome to the TEAM!!! Are you tired of getting SOAKED every time you crack your window for some fresh air during a summer storm?? We’ve all been there – you just want a little breeze, but instead, your door panel gets a TOTAL BATH.
Well, guess what? It’s time to level up your ride with some SICK custom rain guards and visors! Whether you call them window deflectors, vent shades, or rain guards, these bad boys are a MUST-HAVE INVESTMENT for your vehicle.
Today is MONDAY, JUNE 17, 2026, and we are CRUSHING it here at Team Nutz LLC! I’m Ed Nuttall, and I’m telling you, if you aren't running visors yet, you are straight up missing out on the best way to keep your cabin cool and dry!
WHY YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED THESE BAD BOYS!!!
Look, we do a LOT of vehicle customization here in Pittsburgh. And one of the most common "why didn't I do this sooner?" upgrades is the rain guard.
- FRESH AIR NO MATTER WHAT: You can crack that window in a downpour and NOT get wet!
- BEAT THE HEAT: Leave your windows cracked while parked at work so your car isn't a SAUNA when you get in.
- REDUCE WIND NOISE: They actually help aerodynamic flow, so you get less of that "buffeting" sound at high speeds!
- LOOKS COOL: Let’s be real… a sleek set of smoked-out visors just makes your truck or car look MEAN.
It’s not just a part; it’s a total PROJECT for your vehicle's vibe!
THE DIFFERENT FLAVORS: IN-CHANNEL VS. TAPE-ON
Before you go hitting up DIYCustoms.store to grab your gear, you gotta know what you’re looking at! There are two main ways to mount these suckers:
1. IN-CHANNEL RAIN GUARDS (The Sleek Choice)
These slide directly into the window channel. No tape touching your paint! They look like they came from the factory that way. Brand names like WeatherTech are the kings of this style. They use a mechanical fit (sometimes with clips) to stay put.
2. TAPE-ON / STICK-ON (The Classic Choice)
These attach to the outside of your door frame using high-strength 3M Automotive Grade Adhesive. They’re super secure and usually cover a bit more area. If you want that classic "bold" look, this is your winner!

THE PREP WORK – DON’T MESS THIS UP!!!
Okay, listen up because this is where most people FAIL. You can’t just slap these on and hope for the best. If the surface is dirty, that adhesive is gonna FAIL and your visor is gonna fly off on the highway. NOT COOL!
STEP 1: CLEAN IT LIKE YOU MEAN IT!
Use the alcohol wipes provided or some high-grade isopropyl alcohol. You need to strip off all the wax, road grime, and "tire shine" that might have drifted onto your trim. If it ain't squeaky clean, it ain't gonna stick!
STEP 2: THE "DRY MOCK-UP"
DO NOT peel that tape yet! Hold the guard up to the window. Check the alignment. Does it clear the mirror? Does it follow the curve of the door? Once you’re sure, maybe mark it with a tiny piece of painter's tape so you know EXACTLY where to land it.
INSTALLATION TIME: LET’S GET IT DONE!
For Tape-On Guards:
- PEEL THE EDGES: Only peel back about 2 inches of the liner on each end. Fold the tails outward so you can grab them once the guard is in place.
- POSITION: Lightly press the ends down where you marked them.
- PULL THE STRIP: Once it’s aligned, pull the rest of the adhesive liner out from behind the guard.
- THE BIG SQUEEZE: Use your thumb to apply FIRM PRESSURE along the entire length. You want that adhesive to "wet out" and bond forever!
For In-Channel Guards:
- BEND (GENTLY!): You usually have to slightly flex the guard to get the ends into the channel. Don't go Hulk mode and snap it!
- SEAT IT: Slide the flange into the weatherstripping channel.
- WINDOW UP: Slowly roll the window up. It might hit the guard the first time: that’s normal! Use your hand to help guide the window past the guard until it closes all the way.
- THE WAIT: Keep those windows CLOSED for at least 24 hours. This lets the seals adjust to the new roommate in the channel.
